In addition to our work with clients, Excellent Way is committed to helping make this a better world by linking leaders with important community resources they might support or collaborate with in some way. Here, we feature some community organizations that are making an important difference.
Center of Spiritual Light, founded by Dr. Cari Jackson, uses spiritual principles from diverse religions, spiritual traditions and philosophies to help individuals in their journeys into greater wholeness, happiness, and freedom. All are welcome to access CSL services – Interspiritual Counseling and Life Empowerment and Action Programs (LEAP!). Learn more about CSL at http://centerofspirituallight.org/.
Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC) provides employment training and advocacy on behalf of food/restaurant workers. ROC address such issues as the federal tipped minimum wage at $2.13 since 1991. Because of this low wage, almost half of restaurant workers live in poverty. Learn more about the reality of life for restaurant workers and how you can help at http://rocunited.org/living-off-tips/.
Mentoring CARES Movement, founded by Susan L. Taylor (former editor-in-chief of Essence Magazine), organizes mentoring as a low-cost, high-yield solution to address the growing crises of high-school dropout rates, generational poverty, gang violence, and drug addiction especially among black and brown youth. Learn how you can help at http://www.caresmentoring.org/.
